Tama County is located in Central Iowa. It is named for Taimah, a Meskwaki leader.
The largest city is Tama while the seat is Toledo. The Iowa River runs through the county.
The county borders Grundy, Black Hawk, Benton, Poweshiek, Marshall and Iowa Counties.
Main highways through the town include US-30, US-63, IA-8, IA-21, IA-96 and IA-146.
